Season Overview 2010-2011
Holiday Concert
Joy!
The voices of the BGMC explode with holiday joy in a sonic spectacular for men’s chorus and brass. Jordan Hall will ring with favorite carols including Joy to the World, What Child is This, and O Come, All Ye Faithful. Our brilliant accompanist/arranger Chad Weirick has pulled out the stops for Pictures of a Season, a resounding panorama of Christmas tunes inspiried by Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. There’s plenty of gaiety in store with Shalom Santa and we take holiday “cheer” to a new level complete with pom poms, pleated skirts and a routine even GLEE’s Sue Sylvester wouldn’t choreograph. If you like your holidays sassy and brassy, this is the concert for you!

Spring Concert
Falling in Love Again
In an entertaining and emotionally-charged evening, the BGMC transports you to Weimar Berlin and the decadent days of cabaret before World War II. We’ll re-create the Kit Kat Club made famous in Kander and Ebb’s Cabaret, full of leggy dancers, hedonistic tales, and songs of Kurt Weill, Marlene Deitrich, and more. Created in partnership with the Seattle Men’s Chorus, Act II presents Jake Heggie’s For a Look or a Touch, the poignant story of a gay couple torn apart by the Holocaust. This searing and ultimately uplifting musical drama explores gay and Jewish identities in a lyrical tribute to the power of love and the spirit of remembrance.
